A team of Scientists from the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) Lagos and Port Harcourt today visited the Research and Development Laboratory of the Ministry of Science and Technology.
According to the leader of the group, Mr. Kambi Michael,they were on a yearly routine check of the laboratory to ensure it maintains capacity and standard as specified by DPR.
Mr. Michael who was happy with the state of the equipment in the laboratory however advised the Ministry to procure more equipment like the GCNS, Earth Space and special valves. These according to him will assist the laboratory diversify into other areas apart from oil and gas to boast the State’s internally generated revenue.
He assured that DPR both in Lagos and Port Harcourt will provide the needed platform for the Ministry of Science and Technology to succeed.
The Honourable Commissioner Ministry of Science and Technology in his remarks expressed gratitude to the team for their visit. Dr. Nse Essien said he will explore all avenues towards ensuring that oil companies operating in the State partner the Ministry’s laboratory.
He stated that though the country is currently facing recession,the laboratory is working towards becoming self reliant.
The team comprising of Mr. Kambi Michael,the team leader from Lagos and Orire, A. O an inspector from Port Harcourt was conducted round the Research and Development Laboratory of the Ministry by the Director of Science, Mr. Gerald Inoh
