The abandoned Etebi-Enwang road in Mbo Local Government area is set to be completed as Governor Udom Gabriel Emmanuel has given marching orders to the contractor handling the road to return to site and ensure completion of the road.
Commissioner for works, Mr Ephraim Inyangeyen broke the news when he led a team of engineers from the Ministry and newsmen to an inspection of the bridge on the 11 kilometre abandoned road.
Mr Inyangeyen announced that the construction work will be taken over by a new construction company as SINOENG Nigeria Limited, which was handling the project before had failed to deliver.
The works Commissioner argued that, rather than embark on a mew road project in Mbo, Governor Emmanuel who is determined to ensure all Local Government Areas in the state get, at least, one major road project from his administration, has directed that the much anticipated Etebi- Ewang road be completed with the longest bridge in Mbo to give succour to the people of the area.
Also addressing the people of Udung Uko, Commissioner Inyangeyen said, Governor Emmanuel was concerned that, their local Government was among a few that have suffered neglect or had a little of Government projects in the past and was determined to address it.
The Works Commissioner announced that contract has been awarded for the construction of the 9kilometre Secretariat Road that traverses Eyo Ulliong- Ediko- Uduetta in Udung Uko Local Government area with spurs of about 3 kilometres.
Mr Inyangeyen charged the youths of the communities to give maximum cooperation to the contractors and avoid anything that could obstruct the project from going ahead.
In his reaction, the Transition Committee Chairman of Udung Uko, Hon. Godwin Akpoung, expressed delight and thanked Governor Emmanuel onbehalf of the good people of the local government. He said it was a welcome relief that, at last, the state government has come to identify with the people of the area and pledged their continued support for the Udom Emmanuel led PDP administration in the state.
The inspection tour was winded up at the ongoing construction of the dual carriage highway from Okpoedi to Uya Oron which is handled by CCEC Limited which is making tremendous progress.
The works commissioner commended the contractors handling the project and informed them that, Governor Emmanuel will inspect the project in the month of May, charging them to expedite the work.
