The Special Adviser to the Governor of Akwa Ibom State on Bureau of Political, Legislative Affairs and Water Resources, Rt. Hon. (Barr) Ekong Sampson declared that Nigeria owe Eket Senatorial District access to opportunities and the reelection of Governor Udom Emmanuel for a second term. The Special Adviser made this declaration when the apex socio-political organization in Eket Senatorial District, the Eket Senatorial District Youth Assembly (ESDYA) paid him a Courtesy Visit in his office. Barr Sampson stated that Eket Senatorial District have made tremendous contribution to the economic fortune of Akwa Ibom State and Nigeria, therefore deserves a fair treatment.
“If you are so richly endowed, you must have access to opportunities. Nigeria owe Eket Senatorial District access to opportunities because we produce the largest economic fortune of Akwa Ibom State and Nigeria respectively. Eket Senatorial District is the economic hub of Akwa Ibom State and therefore deserves to be treated fairly.
He submitted that the only person that can open access to those opportunities is Governor Udom Gabriel Emmanuel who he said is endowed with ideas to drive good governance. He also said that Udom Emmanuel remain the best thing that has happened to Eket Senatorial District and urged the people to re-elect him for a second term.
“Udom Emmanuel is very competent couple with his managerial prowess to bring good governance to the people. He will help to drive the opportunities. I therefore call on the good people of Eket Senatorial District and indeed Akwa Ibom people to support his administration to deliver on his mandate and give him a second mandate to consolidate on his achievements.
Barr. Sampson who is a former Commissioner and two term member of the State House of Assembly thanked the people and youth of Eket Senatorial District for their sense of unity to bring the people of the area together, promising to work with the group to deliver Udom Emmanuel for 2019 election. “This is a group that I am proud of and want to work together. This Assembly is very important to His Excellency and we will work together to achieve our set goals. He expressed gratitude to ESDYA for taking the lead in advocating for Udom Emmanuel second term project and promised to work with them especially in the upcoming Youth Rally in Eket Senatorial District in solidarity with Governor Udom Emmanuel administration.
Speaking on defection in the Peoples Democratic Party, Barr Sampson said those that defected are dropping from frying pan to fire. He noted that PDP in Akwa Ibom State is united and very strong. “PDP remain very united in Akwa Ibom State. Defectors are dropping from frying pan to fire, and some of them decamping are doing so on selfish persuasion,” he insisted.
Earlier, the National President of Eket Senatorial District Youth Assembly (ESDYA), Hon. (Pst) Joseph Mbong in his speech thanked the governor of Akwa Ibom State, Deacon Udom Emmanuel for appointing a seasoned and experienced politician in the likes of Ekong Sampson to head the Bureau of Political, Legislative Affairs and Water Resources, saying that he is a round peg in a round hole.
The President listed the major achievements of Governor Udom Emmanuel to include infrastructure, youth capacity building and agriculture, promising to carry out public enlightenment programs to sensitize the people on the development stride of Udom Emmanuel administration. Hon. Mbong appealed for support from the government to assist the organization acquire bus for mobility, secretariat and engagement of members into government programs. He also promised to mobilize support for the Governor re-election for equity, justice and fairness.
High point of the event was the decoration of Barr Ekong Sampson as one of the Patrons of the organization. The event was witnessed by Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Political, Legislative Affairs and Water Resources, Otuekong Nse Edem, Director of Mobilization, Dr. Umana, and National Officers of ESDYA.
