The attention of the Honourable Commissioner for Education, Professor Ubong Essien Umoh has been drawn to reports indicating that several Private Primary and Secondary schools within the state intend to resume academic activities on Monday, April 13, 2026 ahead of the official state-mandated date.
The Ministry wishes to state categorically that the official resumption date for the third term of 2025/2026 academic session remains MONDAY, APRIL 20, 2026.
This date applies to all public and private Primary and Secondary schools across the state.
All school proprietors and administrators are directed to strictly abide by the harmonized school calendar. Any school found operating before April 20 will be viewed as acting in defiance of state regulations and if found guilty, will face strict disciplinary actions.
Parents and guardians are strongly advised to keep their children and wards at home until the official resumption date of April 20.
