Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly has congratulated two indigenes of the state namely, Ime Ime Umanah from Abak and Stephen Udotong, an Oruk Anam indigine both residing outside the country for making the state and Nigeria proud following the feats recorded by the duo in their field of endeavor.
Master Stephen,(17) who hails from Ikot Inyang in Oruk-Anam is being celebrated the world over for making a record breaking discovery in science by finding solution to a scientific problem over ten years, while Miss Ime Ime Umanah, a lawyer and daughter of the late business mogul and politician from Abak, Chief Dr. Ime Umanah, recently emerged the President of Harvard University Law Review Committee, a position earlier held by the immediate past President of the United States of America, Barrack Obama.
In a resolution passed by the House during tuesday plenary, the lawmakers said the duo have made state proud, saying the feat attained by them was inline with the dakkada philosophy of Governor Udom Emmanuel.
The resolution is sequel to a matter of urgent public importance brought before the House by the member representing Etinan state constituency, Hon. Barr.. Aniefiok Dennis. Citing relevant standing orders of the House, the Etinan member who introduced a matter of urgent public importance at plenary, informed his colleagues of the feat recorded by the foreign based Akwa Ibom youngsters, saying it was necessary for the Assembly to celebrate them for making the state proud.
In their contribution, members of the legislature expressed happiness at the feat, and called on the state government and public spirited individuals to identify with them.
Speaker, Luke hailed the duo for making the state proud and used them as reference in eenjoining the younger generation to be passionate and committed to their endeavours in life in order to achieve greatness in their chosen field.
“They have made us proud. They make us to hold our heads high. This greatness is inline with the Dakkada philosophy of His Excellency, Governor Udom Emmanuel. In what ever field of endeavor we find ourselves, we must rise to our faith of greatness”.
The Speaker called on men and women of goodwill to rise and support them. He directed the clerk of the House to communicate the resolution of the House to duo.
