It has been brought to the notice of Akwa Ibom state government that some members from the community and other trespassers have encroached on the land belonging to Akwa Ibom State College of Education and are building residential houses on the school land.
Commissioner for Works, Akparawa Ephraim Inyang made the disclosure, Tuesday during the unveiling of the official website of the Ministry of Works. Fielding questions from news men on the development strides of Governor Udom Emmanuel in the area of roads infrastructure, the action Commissioner said his attention has been drawn to the activities of illegal trespassers who have erected structures inside the college land and are living there.
“The community are building inside the college land belonging to Akwa Ibom State College of Education. We cannot allow such a thing to continue. The safety of the students and staff of the institution are threatened. Next week, we will move in with crane and graders, we will clear that rubbish”.
Mr. Ephraim Inyang insisted that his Ministry would not fold it’s hands and allow such illegality to continue on the school land, maintaining that it was pertinent for government to take immediate action to guarantee the safety and security of staff and students of the college.
The demolition exercise is expected to commence next week.
