Akwa United out to shock Niger Tornadoes

*we’re on a special mission, says Coach Maikaba


The Technical Adviser of Akwa United Football Club, Coach Abdu Maikaba has said that his side is on a special mission at Lokoja and must beat Niger Tornadoes to show the team’s quality.

Coach Maikaba stated this today during a chat with THE INK. He said his team is currently in top form and will do everything possible to get 3 points at the end of the encounter against Niger Tornadoes of Minna in a week 14 of Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) which will take place tomorrow, Sunday at Lokoja Confluence stadium, Kogi State.

Maikaba, who noted that though his team is yet to get an away win, expressed confident that Akwa United FC will shock both the away and home fans.

According to Coach Maikaba, “We are on a special mission here at Lokoja. We will shock both the away and our fans. It is a known fact that we have not won any away match since we started the season, we will do that tomorrow by God’s grace.” He stated.

He further noted that he is not expecting nothing more than victory and that with the determination of the players, that will happen tomorrow.

“We have played so many away games, lose some and draw only two matches. The only result that we have not gotten yet is winning which will give us 3 points away, and we will get that tomorrow. That is why we call it a special mission.”
Maikaba reassured the fans that his players will approach the game with all efforts and determinations which they have long prepared themselves for it.

He however maintained that the team is improving everyday and that every mistakes of the past would be corrected in tomorrow’s game, adding that getting 3 points tomorrow will move the team to the top of the log as well as make the inspiration of the team close by, and would be consolidated at the end of the season.

He hinted that he may effect some changes in the squad that faced Sunshine Stars FC last Sunday at Godswill Akpabio International stadium in Uyo.

He used the opportunity to thank home fans for their supports since he resumed office as the Technical Adviser of Akwa United Football Club.
