In a bold move to strengthen safety culture and empower young professionals, Prof. Akan Ekong, Senior Special Assistant to Governor Umo Eno on Projects, has kicked off a free Safety Training Programme for engineers and construction experts in Akwa Ibom State.

🕗 Time: 8:00am – 5:00pm daily
The intensive training covers Industrial Health, Safety & Environmental Management (Levels 1–3) and Construction Safety Supervision, equipping participants with globally recognized certifications.
Prof. Ekong, who also serves as Director of Projects at Ibom Deep Seaport, emphasized that the initiative aligns with Governor Umo Eno’s vision to entrench a sustainable safety culture across Akwa Ibom. Successful trainees will earn up to four professional safety certificates, boosting their employability and capacity to supervise government projects safely.

Partnering with the Nigerian Institution of Safety Engineers, Akwa Ibom Chapter, the program guarantees credibility and professional depth.
“We should be able to grow our Youth. That is why I am doing this in support of His Excellency’s vision to build a culture of safety in Akwa Ibom State,” Prof. Ekong stated.
By making the training free, Prof. Ekong underscores his commitment to the Arise Agenda and corporate social responsibility removing financial barriers while empowering professionals to thrive.
