Raising twins, triplets, or even more little ones at once is a beautiful blessing but it also comes with unique challenges. From sleepless nights to doubled expenses, parents of multiple birth children often face overwhelming demands. Recognizing this, the Golden Initiative For All (GIFA) has stepped in with a heartwarming gesture of support.
On January 21, 2026, GIFA hosted an Empowerment Programme for Multiple Birth Families at the Banquet Hall, Government House, Uyo. Families walked away not only with baby and mother care packages but also with cash support a thoughtful intervention designed to ease the financial and emotional strain of raising multiple children.
Lady Helen Eno Obareki, Coordinator of the Office of the First Lady and Chairperson of GIFA’s Board of Trustees, described the programme as a symbolic event marking the organization’s second anniversary and honoring Pastor Patience Umo Eno’s posthumous birthday.
She emphasized that the initiative was created to show empathy and practical support to families navigating the complexities of raising multiples. Her message to parents was clear: “Engage in ventures that will provide for your children’s needs, and know that GIFA stands with you.”
Over the past two years, GIFA has rolled out impactful programmes in healthcare and women’s empowerment. Pastor Anne Abraham, GIFA’s team lead, highlighted these achievements and praised Governor Umo Eno for providing free medical facilities for pregnant women—an effort that has reduced maternal mortality and aligned perfectly with GIFA’s mission of strengthening family life.
Dr. Mary Udoh, President of the Medical Women’s Association of Nigeria (Akwa Ibom Chapter), also shared practical advice in her talk “Thriving with Multiples.” She stressed the importance of balanced nutrition for mothers to boost breastmilk production and encouraged exclusive breastfeeding for six months to ensure healthy growth for babies.
The event was filled with goodwill messages from female leaders and stakeholders, including Hon. Selena Ukpatu, Mrs. Emem Sampson Idiong, and Mrs. Akaninyene Uwemedimo Udo. They applauded Lady Obareki for sustaining her mother’s vision and acknowledged the programme’s immense contribution to easing the burdens of vulnerable families.
Speaking on behalf of beneficiaries, Mrs. Peace Etim expressed heartfelt appreciation: “Thank you for understanding our struggles and for giving us the support we need to care for our children.”

Every parent who attended left with care packages and financial support, a tangible reminder that they are not alone in their journey. With GIFA’s continued commitment and the collaboration of partners, the initiative is poised to expand its reach, touching even more families across Akwa Ibom State.

This empowerment programme wasn’t just about gifts it was about restoring hope, strengthening families, and celebrating the resilience of parents raising
