The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria Uyo branch recently extol Governor Udom Emmanuel for being a worthy ambassador of ICAN and working tirelessly to bring speedy developments to Akwa Ibom State.
The newly elected Chairman of the body, Sir Victor Asukwo Eme, stated this during their inaugural meeting/ annual dinner night to usher in new executive officers to pilot the affairs of the Institute in the next one year.
Sir Eme also extended his gratitude to the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Deacon Udom Emmanuel for appointing their members to serve as Commissioner´s, Permanent Secretary, Accountant General and Auditor General.
He said, Worthy of note is the use of professional persons in Strategic positions in enhancing quality services delivery to Akwa Ibom people and the continuous training of our young ones in various areas of skills. We also appreciate the Government´s effort in industrializing the State and revolutionizing Agriculture.
in his address, sir Asukwo thanked the members of the institute for finding him worthy to lead the affairs of the institute in the next one year. He appreciated the past Excos for a successful administration during their tenure and thanked the electoral committee for conducting a free and credible election.
The new Chairman said the cardinal objectives of his administration to include; Unity among members, paper presentation on topical issues during our meetings to meet with our national standard in order to attract, appreciate credit hours for our benefits, Repositioning of the profession and attitudinal Renaissances, creation of Eket and District Society and as we would continued to work to realized this dream, possessing the land which governor Udom Emmanuel graciously allocated to them and do all necessary land ownership procedures and documentation- surveys, land registry, ground breaking etc.
Similarly, “our resolution is to support the ´Catch them Young´ programme anytime the National Headquarters gives the green light and we would continued our enlightenment visit to Universities and polytechnics in Akwa Ibom State including NYSC camps. Also, we will from time to time visit our professional colleagues who are advanced in age, retired, sick in order to gives some words of encouragement, assistance and support especially those who worked to the developments of the noble profession”.
sir Eme promised to start work on the institute Secretariat name after “Udom Emmanuel House” at the banking layout, Uyo.Stressing that Governor Udom Emmanuel is an eminent professional colleague, a fellow of our prestigious institute and we commended him
He furthermore, thanked the other members of the Executive Council for emerging victorious at the just concluded election and prayed that the new appointees excel in their new position.
The new Executives are: Chairman, Sir Victor Asukwo Eme, Vice Chairman, Mr. Eteyen Ikpong, Secretary, Mr. Effefiong Ekott, Financial Secretary, Mr Ubokudom Ekut, Treasurer, Mrs Affiah .
