NO AMOUNT OF SPONSORED POLITICAL BLACKMAIL WILL DISTRACT UDOM -EKONG SAMPSON

…as Accord Party chieftains pledge solidarity

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Political, Legislative Affairs and Water Resources, Rt. Hon. (Barr.) Ekong Sampson has assured that no amount of sponsored blackmail will distract Governor Udom Emmanuel from delivering on the 5-point agenda of the State Government.
Barrister Ekong Sampson stated this while playing host to members of the Forum of Chapter Chairmen of Accord Party, who were in his office on a solidarity visit to reaffirm their support for the vision driven government of Governor Udom Emmanuel in Akwa Ibom State. The visit was led by the Chairman of the Forum, Mr. Ekikere Joshua.
Describing the speculated demonstration by some youths against the proposed Akwa Ibom State Government Lodge in Lagos as a sponsored, politically motivated scheme, Barr. Ekong Sampson stated no individual or institution that wishes to invest in any state in Nigeria can ignore the importance of having a strong presence in Lagos.
Barrister Ekong Sampson wondered why the good intentions of the State Government in articulating an investment climate for Akwa Ibom people could be so misunderstood by some, maintaining that some mischief merchants and political fortune-seekers were working desperately to misrepresent Government genuine intentions because of the build-up to 2019.
Barrister Sampson said Governor Udom Emmanuel has been able to maintain peace and unity in Akwa Ibom State, improve power supply, construct roads, boost agriculture, attract industrialization and generally earn Akwa Ibom State the respect of Nigeria.

He described Governor Udom Emmanuel as a very focused and detribalized leader who believes in access to opportunity and ensures that his development thrust is well spread across the State.
The Special Adviser thanked Akwa Ibom people for ignoring propaganda and mischief to demonstrate unshaken support for Governor Udom Emmanuel.
He commended the Accord Party leaders for their resolve to work with Governor Udom Emmanuel, to seek the general good of Akwa Ibom State and lauded their show of solidarity in joining the good people of Akwa Ibom State to line up behind the Governor to extend his tenure beyond 2019, describing their commitment as patriotic.
The Special Assistant to the Governor on Inter-Party Affairs, Hon. Lawrence expressed delight for the bold step taken by the Accord party chieftains to identify with His Excellency the Governor. Reiterating the position of the Hon. Special Adviser, Mr. Lawrence Udoh said such move would not have been possible if the Governor was not performing.
The Inter-Party helmsman commended the Governor’s prudence in managing resources and sustaining the economy of Akwa Ibom State, even in the face of present recession. He therefore assured the Forum that their support for the State Government will not be regretted.
The Chairman of the Forum and leader of the delegation, Mr. Ekikere Joshua declared that the Accord Party is not part of any proposed demonstration or protest against the Governor Udom Emmanuel led Government of Akwa Ibom State. He said that his party faithful are in support of the State Government and its programmes. “We are not afraid to say that Udom will be the next Governor, come 2019.
The Chairman of Chairmen said Governor Udom Emmanuel has done well for the State and that there are indications that he will even do more. He said Udom’s governorship in 2019 needs not be over-flogged. “With the support of Akwa Ibom people and the support of Accord party in the State, Udom will still emerge governor in 2019,” Ekikere Joshua stressed.
The State Vice Chairman of Accord Party, Engr. Akaninyene Udoara, who was also part of the delegation, described the planned protest as the blind leading the blind. He said the Accord Party is focused and believes in oneness that will bring progress to Akwa Ibom State. He declared that the Party’s faithful cannot be part of such protest.
