In a move aimed at promoting transparency and accountability, the Executive Chairman of Okobo Local Government Area, Rt. Hon. Engr. George Henshaw, has dissolved all Revenue Committees and Task Force operating in the Council Area.
According to a press release issued by the Media and Public Affairs Unit of the Council, the dissolution takes effect from Sunday, December 1, 2024.
The release stated that all concerned individuals are required to hand over all Council documents in their possession to the Revenue Officer on Monday, December 2, 2024.
This move is seen as a bold step by the Chairman to reposition the Council’s revenue collection and management system.
The dissolution of the Revenue Committees and Task Force is expected to pave the way for a more efficient and transparent revenue collection system, which will ultimately benefit the people of Okobo Local Government Area.
Reacting to the development, a cross-section of stakeholders in the area commended the Chairman for his courage and commitment to transparency and accountability.
“This is a welcome development,” said Mr. Emmanuel Udoh, a resident of the area. “We hope that this move will lead to a more transparent and accountable management of the Council’s revenue.”
With this move, the Chairman has demonstrated his commitment to good governance and his determination to leave a lasting legacy in Okobo Local Government Area.
