The Supervisor for Youth and Transport in the Uyo Local Government Council, Hon. Ubong Willie, has held a stakeholders’ engagement meeting with leaders and party faithful from Ikono II Ward 9, reaffirming the council’s commitment to grassroots communication and inclusive governance.
The meeting, which took place on Friday, March 13, 2026, was hosted at the residence of the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr. Anieti Udofia, in Uyo.
Speaking during the briefing, Hon. Willie commended the leadership of the Executive Chairman of Uyo Local Government Council, Dr. Uwemedimo Udo, noting that the administration has continued to promote peace, unity, and development across the council area.
He explained that the Chairman’s decision to empower supervisors to organize ward-level briefings reflects a strong commitment to transparency, grassroots participation, and effective communication with constituents.

Hon. Willie also appreciated stakeholders of Ikono II Ward 9 for their continued support and thanked Dr. Anieti Udofia for providing his residence as the venue for the meeting.
In his remarks, Dr. Anieti Udofia applauded Hon. Willie for bringing stakeholders together and urged continued unity and support for the administration of Governor Pastor Umo Eno and other leaders at various levels of government.
Also speaking, the Secretary of Uyo Local Government Council, Mr. Obioabasi Ubongabasi, praised Hon. Willie for his dedication and loyalty in representing Ikono II Ward 9. He described Dr. Uwemedimo Udo as a resilient and determined leader, noting that it is unprecedented in the history of Uyo Local Government politics for a council chairman to empower supervisors to convene ward-level meetings for stakeholders.

Stakeholders who spoke at the meeting—including former Uyo Local Government Chairmen Chief Clement Ekot and Arc. Essien Nkanga, Elder Anietie Offong, and the APC Woman Leader, Mrs. Idongesit Etuk—commended the leadership style of Governor Umo Eno at the state level and Dr. Uwemedimo Udo at the local government level. They also praised the prevailing peace within Ikono politics and appreciated Hon. Ubong Willie for keeping stakeholders informed and engaged.
Other stakeholders present included Mr. Ubong Ekpene, Comrade Emem Ekiko, Hon. Akan Ekot, Elder Uwem Ekiko, Dr. Usen Ebong, as well as the APC Ward 9 Chairman and members of the ward executive.
The meeting served as an opportunity for dialogue, strengthening collaboration between government officials and grassroots leaders in the ward.
