The Ibom Airport Development Company Limited (IADCL), operators of the Victor Attah International Airport (VAIA), has issued a strong warning to the public regarding the growing trend of unauthorised access to the airport’s apron area.
In a statement dated 20 November 2025, airport management raised concerns over the habit of “meeters and greeters” who flock to the airside to receive arriving guests—actions that violate aviation safety regulations.
According to the management, such unauthorised access poses serious safety and security risks and is non-compliant with Civil Aviation security requirements.
The statement further emphasised that only persons explicitly authorised by the Airport Authority will be granted access to restricted areas, in line with airside security protocols.
IADCL called for strict adherence to the directive and reassured the travelling public of its commitment to maintaining the highest standards of airport safety and security.
