One of the most important responsibilities of government is to make life easier for the people. Consistent with this obligation, Governor Umo Eno has been particularly concerned and intentional about making life better for the people.
For him, governance has always been about the people, either easing their burdens, putting food on their tables, and making their daily journey less stressful. That is why from day one, he has been deliberate about building systems that bring down the cost of living and put smiles on the faces of people.
That is the thinking behind the Governor’s strategic intervention in the transport sector through the introduction of CNG-powered buses and the ongoing Ibom CNG Mass Transit Terminal in Uyo.
The world-class CNG transport hub is designed with CNG filling station, a training school for CNG technology and operations, a police station for safety, and modern loading bays for operational efficiency.
The Terminal project which started months ago at Ikot Ekpe Offot is today nearing completion as the hub for 50 CNG-powered buses already procured by his administration to connect Uyo to all 31 Local Government Areas.
In the lexicon of development economics, transportation is a great enabler. This state-owned mass transit system when fully operational, will deliver efficient, cleaner and accessible transit that reduces the daily financial burden on commuters.
This is indeed a quiet revolution – no noise, just results. It shows what the ARISE Agenda truly stands for, delivering practical solutions to everyday challenges.
As we countdown to 2027, let us sustain this momentum by re-electing Pastor Umo Eno, PhD, for a second term, to consolidate on this strategic and transformative intervention for the greater good of our dear State.
