Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State | akstrending.com

A while ago, I wrote an article titled: “Umo Eno: A Leader with Kingship and Priesthood Mandates.” On November 1, 2026, Governor Umo Eno stepped visibly into that priesthood toga when he led the Akwa Ibom State All Progressives Congress into God’s presence to dedicate the 2027 political season to Him.
At the special dedication service held at the International Christian Worship Centre, Uyo, under the theme “We Are Well Able,” Governor Eno did not begin with political calculations, or the noise of rallies.
He began at the altar. He led the party’s campaign council, candidates, leaders and members to seek divine direction, strength and favour for the journey ahead.
That service was a public declaration that leadership begins with God. The Governor reminded the gathering that there is a God who rules in the affairs of men, that human plans, strategies and structures have their place; but it is God who directs the affairs of life and determines outcomes.
That is the essence of Psalm 37:5. To commit one’s way to the Lord is to surrender personal ambition to divine purpose.
It is to plan, work and organise, but to acknowledge that no leader, no party and no campaign succeeds by human strength alone. Governor Eno’s action reflected a leader who understands that political power is a trust, not a possession.
The theme, “We Are Well Able,” captured the confidence of the moment.
But the Governor made clear that this confidence is not self-confidence; it is confidence in God. “We are well able because God is able,” he declared, expressing trust that God would lead, strengthen and direct their steps.
This is where Governor Eno’s kingship and priesthood mandates meet.
As a king, he carries the responsibility of governance, service and leadership.
As a priest, he carries the responsibility to stand before God on behalf of the people, to seek guidance, and to place the affairs of the state and its political future in divine hands.
His leadership has consistently carried this spiritual tone. He has urged Akwa Ibom people to remain grateful to God for the peace and progress in the state, and he has repeatedly warned that elections must not divide the people or return the state to violence and division.
At the dedication service, he again urged the campaign council and candidates to show humility, unity, discipline and genuine commitment to service, keeping the people of Akwa Ibom at the centre of governance.
That is the kind of leadership Akwa Ibom needs. Governor Eno’s decision to dedicate the political season to God was a statement of character.
A leader who commits his ways to the Lord does not walk alone. He leads with humility, governs with the fear of God, and trusts the Lord to establish what is right.
And therefore, let no one be surprised when God in His infinite mercy accedes to Governor Eno’s fervent prayers and lead him and all APC candidates to resounding victory.
