Governor Umo Eno’s commitment to completing critical inherited infrastructure projects is receiving further expression in Uruan, as construction advances on the 8.5 KM Nduetong Oku–Ibiaku Uruan Road.

With contractor, Ras Premium, intensifying asphalt laying on the Uruan axis towards Planet FM, the renewed pace of work reflects the Governor’s commitment to continuity in governance and ensuring that viable projects initiated by previous administrations are completed.

The road, which recorded limited progress following the end of the administration that initially awarded the contract, had become a major concern for residents of Uruan. Its re-award under Governor Eno has, however, renewed confidence in the eventual delivery of this important infrastructure.

Beyond serving as a vital access route for Uruan communities, the corridor hosts major institutions, including Uyo City Polytechnic, Planet FM, Tangsio FM and Spectrum TV, alongside several other educational institutions. Its strategic importance makes its completion significant to residents, students, businesses and other road users.

A representative of the contracting company, Mr Igbi, attributed part of the delay to the redesign of the bridge but assured that arrangements had been concluded for its construction to commence. He also pledged that the company would maximise the dry season to accelerate work on the project.

With asphalt laying advancing, the project is moving closer to delivering improved connectivity and unlocking greater economic and social opportunities for Uruan and adjoining communities.
