Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has delivered more than 1,048 housing units across the state as part of efforts to improve living conditions for residents since assuming office in May 2023.
The housing projects, implemented under the ARISE Agenda, cut across different categories of beneficiaries, including low-income earners, civil servants, professionals, and vulnerable groups.
Commissioner for Information, Aniekan Umanah, said the administration adopted a phased and structured approach to housing delivery to ensure steady progress across all projects.
Under the Compassionate Homes initiative, designed for the most vulnerable, 438 units have been initiated, with 355 already completed across the state.
In addition, 175 civil servants on Grade Levels 1–7 have benefitted from free housing allocation at Grace Estate in Ibiono Ibom, which consists of 236 two-bedroom apartments distributed through a raffle system.
For high income residents, the Ewet Luxury Garden in Uyo is nearing completion. The estate comprises 35 fully detached five-bedroom duplexes with modern facilities, including recreational centres and 24-hour security.
The government is also developing Aviation Village near the Victor Attah International Airport to accommodate aviation personnel, alongside housing projects for judicial officers, lawmakers, and members of the state executive council.
At the grassroots level, construction is ongoing for official residences for all 31 local government chairmen to improve governance and service delivery.
Additionally, 100 housing units are being built within the Medical Village to accommodate healthcare workers at the Ibom International Hospital.
Umanah noted that more housing projects, including 150 townhouses along Uyo Village Road, are in the pipeline.
He added that the housing programme has also created jobs for local contractors and workers, contributing to economic growth across the state.
