
The Akwa Ibom Enterprise and Employment Scheme (AKEES) has expressed readiness to partner with Ibom Metropolitan Polytechnic, Uyo to build a reservoir of highly skilled and competent manpower for economic development.
The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Technical Matters and Due Process, Elder Ufot Ebong, disclosed this on Friday, while inspecting the skill acquisition centre of the institution located at Atan Offot, Uyo.
Speaking, the AKEES boss identified skill acquisition as the best way to reduce restiveness and unemployment among youths adding that the standard of the centres were inline with AKEES common facilities spread across the state.
Earlier, the Rector of IMP, Dr. Victor E U William said the skill acquisition centres were designed to equip and empower the youths in the institution with relevant skills and help them start their own ventures after the completion of the programme.
