Akwa Ibom Govt directs contractor to return to site, vows never to abandon any road under construction

The Akwa Ibom State Government has directed Slavabogu Big Ltd, the construction company, handling the Ibiaku Uruan – Ekritam road with 40m Span Bridge, and a spur stretching through Uyo, Itu and Uruan Local Government Areas to return their equipment to the site and resume work so that the project can be delivered on schedule.

The Commissioner for Works, Mr Ephraim Inyangeyen, who gave the directive during an inspection visit to ascertain the extent of work done on the road, reiterated the determination of Governor Udom Emmanuel to complete all ongoing road projects across the State, insisting that, not one of them will be abandoned.
Commissioner Inyangeyen who observed that, the Udom Emmanuel-led PDP administration has achieved remarkable success in the area of roads construction regretted the delay on the road, occasioned by a withdrawal from the site by the contractor handling the project, stating however, that, the issue has been resolved.

While commending the quality of job done on the Mbiatok Itam road, the Works Commissioner sued for continuity and support for Governor Udom Emmanuel, stressing that, all the ongoing road projects initiated by the current administration and the ones that were inherited would not be abandoned for any reason.

Mr Inyangeyen charged the youths of the area to cooperate with the contractors, to ensure timely delivery of the project and assured that, all property affected by the ongoing construction will be fully compensated.

Responding on behalf of the people of the two communities, an Elder, Obong Etim Effiong Ben, thanked Governor Udom Emmanuel for remembering the people of Itu and Uran, and pledged the people’s readiness to demonstrate their appreciation by voting massively for the governor come 2019 Governorship polls
