EARCOM Boss tasks citizens to shun social vices while celebrating christmas

The Chairman of the Ethical and Attitudinal Reorientation Commission, EARCOM, Akwa Ibom State, Dr Dorothy Thompson has tasked citizens to shun social vices and act responsibly while celebrating Christmas and afterwards.

Dr Thompson gave the charge while chatting with newsmen on the eve of Christmas about the significance of the celebration.According to the EARCOM boss, the yuletide isn’t a season to engage in criminality and social vices such as rape, robbery, cultism, violence, drug abuse, prostitution, fraudulent business dealings, excessive drinking and other irresponsible behavior.

Thompson observed that, the very essence of Christmas is the fact that God’s love was made manifest in that, He gave His only son , Jesus Christ to spread peace, goodwill, reconcile the world with God and save man from sin

She therefore urged all Christians to reflect on the imagery of the humble, symbolic and divine birth of Jesus in the manger and demonstrate the virtues of love, charity and forgiveness towards one another, stressing that, the birth of Jesus symbolises the message of hope, compassion, salvation, reconciliation, forgiveness and peace.

Dr Thompson who lauded Governor Udom Emmanuel for what she described as an awesome and very successful Christmas Carol festival, which she explained etched the State on the world stage also congratulated him on his victory at the Supreme Court and sued for support from the people for his completion agenda.

While wishing all citizens a merry Christmas and a prosperous New year celebrations, Dr Thompson charged road users to observe traffic rules and observe security tips, so as to have a safe yuletide.
