The heartbeat of Uyo is changing one road at a time. The Akwa Ibom State Government has intensified reconstruction and maintenance works across the metropolis, breathing new life into the city’s transport network and reaffirming Governor Umo Eno’s pledge to make commuting safer, smoother, and more enjoyable.

Major Works Underway
From Aka Itiam Road to Abak Road, Oron Road, Ikpa Road, and the bustling Itam Junction, crews are hard at work repairing failed sections, overlaying surfaces, and desilting drains. In total, 83 critical road sections are being fixed, ensuring traffic flows more freely and vehicles suffer less wear and tear.
Governor Umo Eno had promised that potholes would be “clinically addressed” during the dry season. Today, that promise is visible in the asphalt being laid, the drains being cleared, and the smiles of residents who now navigate smoother roads.

Also Commuters and business owners alike have hailed the intervention as a game changer. Beyond easing traffic, the repairs are expected to reduce flood-related damage, enhance the city’s aesthetics, and boost confidence in the government’s commitment to urban renewal.
This isn’t just about fixing potholes it’s about urban mobility, safety, and dignity. By tackling road infrastructure head on, the Akwa Ibom State Government is laying the groundwork for a more connected, resilient, and thriving Uyo metropolis.
