The Executive Chairman of Uyo Local Government Council, Elder Imoh Okon has called on politicians in the state to desist from engaging the services of cultist for whatever reason, stressing that Cultism in the state will drastically reduce if cultist are not patronize.

Imoh Okon gave the warning on Tuesday 3rd June in an interview with journalists shortly after Students Security and Leadership Summit, organized by the National Association Of Nigerian Students (NANS) Akwa Ibom State Axis in partnership with the Nigerian Police Force, Akwa Ibom State Command.

While lamenting the increasing rate of cultism among students and youths, Imoh Okon said moral values and societal norms have been sacrificed on the platter of cultism and therefore advised students and youths in the state to denounce both cultism other social vices which he said are capable of jeopardizing their future.

Further, the Council Boss urged students and youth across the state not to use their hands to destroy their future reiterating that what is lying ahead of them is paramount.

He commended the organizers of the summit on their effort in tackling cultism in the state at a time the state and the country are recording rampant killings, describing it as timely and rewarding.

It could be recalled that Elder Imoh Okon had during his investiture as the Grand Commander of Uyo and Uyo North Battalion Councils of Boys respectively restated his commitment to fight cultism through Boys Brigade with a call on security agencies to step up modalities towards curbing the vices.
