
Akwa Ibom State Environmental Protection and Waste Management Agency
As a new fiscal begins, the Akwa Ibom State Environmental Protection and Waste management Agency – AKSEPWMA, has warned everyone doing business in the state against illegal revenue Agents going around shops and different business organizations to demand certain payments in the name of the Akwa Ibom State Government.
The notification was contained in a release signed by the State Waste management Board Chairman, Hon. Prince Ikim and made available to the public through different media channels.
The statement reads: “This is to notify the public, corporate organizations, Businesses, vehicles and tricycles operating in the State that any demand notices for the year 2020 on sanitation emblem, pollution and effluent discharge fees issued by persons or agents other than authorized agents of the Akwa Ibom State Environmental Protection and Waste management agency or the Akwa Ibom State Internal Revenue Service – AKIRS should be disregarded.”
Ikim however, intimated the public that any revenue agent who claims to represent the State Government without any means of identification as an AKSEPWMA or AKIRS agent, should either be reported to the Waste Management Agency office at New Park Road, Itam or the nearest police State for Prosecution.
Meanwhile, the Waste Management Boss has reiterated his agency’s commitment and determination to properly interpret and implement Governor Udom Emmanuel’s policies towards ensuring that Akwa Ibom retains her position of being the cleanest state in Nigeria, as rated in 2018 and 2019 by Clean Up Nigeria (CUN).
