
The Speaker of the Akwa lbom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey has said that the National Assembly Service Commission, NASC retreat is essential, timely and packaged to build the capacity of Senior Staff of the Commission.
The Speaker made this known on Tuesday during the opening ceremony of the National Assembly Service Commission Retreat that was held at Monty Suites in Uyo, Akwa lbom State.
In his Keynote Address, he described the agenda setting retreat as an important event that will help the NASC management staff to meet up their specific roles, tasks, responsibilities and expectations to successfully discharge their overall achievements of the goals of the Commission.
He added ” The National Assembly Service Commission is a statutory body which helps in building and managing excellent and productive work force that will provide professional services to the National Assembly, the legislative arm of the federal government in Nigeria.
” The role requires, diligence, discipline, passion, integrity and deep capacity of members of the Commission, therefore the Commission should be guided by principles of natural justice, equity and fair play.” He said
The Chairman of National Assembly Service Commission, Engr. Ahmed Kadi Amshi noted that the membership of the 5th National Assembly Service Commission was approved by President Muhammadu Buhari, in December 2019 and also confirmed by the Senate in February 2020 and finally inaugurated by the President on the 26th, February, 2020.
He stated that the essence of the retreat is to holistically analyze information that will provide Agenda Setting and enable the Commission to draw a roadmap of their activities.
Engr. Kadi Amshi appreciated the Akwa lbom state government for the cordial relationship between the State Government and the National Assembly Service Commission and also wished the relationship is maintained.
Speaking further, the Chairman of Akwa lbom State House of Assembly Service Commission, His Grace Arch Bishop Andrew Uwanta congratulated the Chairman and Commissioners on their well- deserved appointments.
According to Dr Andrew Unwanta, the Akwa lbom State Assembly Service Commission has seriously worked with the Commission to make the staff of Assembly Services both at National and States enjoy good and working conditions.
The Clerk of the Akwa lbom House of the Assembly, Mrs Mandu Umoren welcomed the members of the Commission and assured them of their safety in the state due to the peaceful nature of the state.
The highpoint of the event was the presentation of souvenir by the Chairman of the National Assembly Commission to the Speaker
