1. The Akwa Ibom State Government announces that the commissioning of the newly built Ibom Equipment Leasing Facility is scheduled for Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at 12:00 noon, at Ekpri Nsukara, Uyo.
2. The facility, developed under the Ministry of Agriculture and the Agribusiness Unit of the Governor’s Office is a strategic initiative of the administration of His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, PhD, Governor of Akwa Ibom State, aimed at accelerating mechanized agriculture and boosting commercial farming. It is a key component of the Agricultural Revolution mantra of the ARISE Agenda, which also encompasses the Food Security Programme, farmers grant, the Ibom Model Farm, and the Tree Crop Revolution, among other initiatives.
3. The Ibom Agricultural Equipment Leasing Facility is positioned as a central hub for agricultural mechanization, providing equipment leasing for land preparation services and technical support to farmers, cooperatives and agribusinesses The facility is equipped with critical infrastructure, including administrative buildings, a fully fitted maintenance workshop, tractor sheds, as well as a fleet of tractors with accompanying implements and two low-bed trailers to ensure efficient deployment and operations.
4. This landmark project is expected to bridge the mechanization gap, improve agricultural productivity, enhance value chain activities, and generate employment opportunities, thereby strengthening the State’s drive toward food security, economic diversification, and sustainable growth.
5. The Akwa Ibom State Government invites stakeholders, members of the farming community, and the general public to witness the commissioning of this critical facility, which underscores its commitment to transforming the agricultural sector and improving livelihoods.
