By Osondu Ahirika

The Chairman, Uyo Capital City development Authority, UCCDA, Prince Enobong Uwah has revealed that, those who mocked him because of Atan Offot community roads have today used the same mouth to commend Governor Udom Emmanuel for what he said is the turning of Atan Offot into a metropolitan town with a network of standard roads.

Prince Uwah made the disclosure when he flagged off the grading of internal roads within the capital city in Uyo Local Government Area at Saint Philip’s Primary School, Ikot Nsung Ikono, in ikono clan.

The UCCDA boss explained that, Governor Udom Emmanuel ordered the massive grading of roads in rural communities across the state in an effort to create an enabling environment for economic growth and to ensure that all communities within the capital city are linked up.

On fears that the roads will be abandoned as expressed by the community leaders who decried the abandonment of the road by the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, for twelve years now after undertaking to construct the road, Prince Uwah assured the people that, Governor Emmanuel is a God-fearing man who loves the people and will never abandon his promises or any project he embarks on for their good and welfare.

Prince Uwah, who holds the traditional title of Otuekong(war General) Uyo, argued that, a few years ago, he was made a laughing stock by people who said he could only attract pittance to his people following a similar massive grading of roads in Atan Offot community and environs where he hails from.

Prince Uwah added that, he ignored the mockery but begged the people to vote for Governor Emmanuel and be rest assured the next step would be to completely construct the roads, maintaining that, he has been vindicated as Governor Emmanuel has completely turned around the fortuneof Atan Offot forever.

Prince Uwah said Uyo is the greatest beneficiary of the current administration revealed that Governor Emmanuel had since commissioned over twenty-six roads in Uyo alone in three years with almost twenty more atadvanced stages of construction.

He told the Ikono people that more developmental projects are slated for to the Clan as the State Government has approved inter ministerial intervention project in about four schools in the clan.

Earlier in his address at the event, the Chairman, Uyo Local Government Area, Hon. Elder Imoh Okon appreciated the Governor’s good gesture towards the people and pledged the people’s resolve to support Governor Udom Emmanuel to continue to do more for the people.

Also speaking, the Clan head elect of Ikono Uyo,
