UYO LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA GETS MORE GRADED ROADS

The people of Ward 8 Uyo LGA are assured of more dividends of good governance in the coming years. The Mayor of Uyo LGA Elder (Hon) Imoh Okon made the pledge while addressing some indigenes of Mbiabong village in Ward 8, after undertaking and assessment visit to the on going grading work on the over 5km stretch of road spanning the 3 villages of Ikot Ayan, Mbiabong and Ikot Mbon Ikono, Ward 8 in Uyo LGA.

The road which was shut down for over 10 years owing to neglect and other environmental factors links with the Uyo-Ikono-Abak road and the Idoro-Manta-Abak road. Elder Imoh Okon said the grading of the road was one of his campaign promises and commended the people for the level of co-operation and support given to the grader operators and workers to ensure that the job is efficiently and effectively accomplished.

The people in the communities said the opening up of the road after over a decade will improve economic activities and relief them of the stress and rigor of taking alternate and longer routes.

The pledged their continued loyalty to the Imoh Okon led administration and the Akwa Ibom State government. Uyo Local Government has graded 6 other roads in 4 wards of the Local government in the past one year. The Chairman was accompanied on the inspection visit by the Councillor representing Ward 8 in Uyo LGA and the Director of Works in Uyo Local Government Council.
