
In continuation of it’s ongoing enforcement drive to persecute tax defaulters and recover revenue for Akwa Ibom state government, the State Internal Revenue Service (AKIRS), took its tax enforcement/recovery drive to the city of Eket, issuing warning notices to 10 business organizations yet to remit their taxes to the coffers of the Akwa Ibom State government.
The team led by its Executive Director, Enforcement/Recovery, Mr. Leo Leo Umana issued warning notices to Nobles International School, Dominion International School, and Aunty Chinny’s International Schools.
The body also served warning notices to Blade Lounge, Firstfruits Garden and Suites Limited, Landmark Guest House, Madelyn Hotels, Amado clinic, Fortune Medical Centre and Gabson Engineering Services Limited all in Eket local government area.
Mr. Umana who frowned at outfits who deduct taxes from it’s employees without remitting same to the state government are given (7) days notice to do so or risk the wrath of the board.
The Executive Director said the board is not going back on recovering revenues for the State government which have accrued to billions of naira. He, however, called on tax defaulters not to delay in visiting the AKIRS office, remit their taxes and ask questions on issues they do not understand as that is the only way they can get any necessary information to help them in tax compliance.
“If you need any information, visit our office at bank layout, Udo Udoma Avenue, Uyo, our staff are on ground to guide you”, he stated.
