The Senior Special ASSISTANT to the Executive Governor on Waterways and Coastal Matters, Isantim Kenneth Okon has emerged the political facilitator of Etinan local government area pending the emergence of Political Leader.
Okon was unnanimously appointed as a facilitator during an enlarged political stakeholders meeting held recently.
In attendance at the meeting were: Lawmaker representing Etinan State Constituency, Barr Dennis Akpan; A former National Executive member of Peoples Democratic Party,(Barr) Lady Ime Udom, erstwhile commissioner for Health, Dr. Okon Emah; Governor’s aide on petroleum , Mr. Udoh Ekwere, PDP chapter chairman Hon. Inemesit Itina among others
Briefing the stakeholders on the recent issues surrounding Political Leadership in Etinan, Okon claimed political leadership comes naturally, thus there was need to fill the vacuum in Etinan Local Government Area after the exit of immediate past political leader- Late C.O. Akpan.
“No credible political leader has ever emerged via appointment, they emerge naturally…I have never appointed Okon Emah as the political leader of Etinan, I only said there was a vacuum after the death of Bishop C. O. Akpan”
Hon. Okon, a former Chairman of the local Government also seized the opportunity to brief the stakeholders on expectations ahead of PDP primaries billed to hold fortnight.
Responding, Dr. Okon Emah said he stands for peace and does not wish to throw Etinan political system into trouble by insisting on being a political leader.
“I’m not looking for trouble, i stand for peace, I stand for development,I stand for social development.” Okon said during the meeting.
The former commissioner distanced self from ever emerging political leader of the local government area as was speculated on the social media recently claiming that it was ploy by some elements to cause unnecessary rancour amongst Iman Ibom sons and daughters
Clearing the air, Mr. Udoh Ekwere said Okon Emah was appointed as chairman of Etinan Chairman’s Elders council and not Political leader to fill in the vacant after the demise of Bishop C. O. Akpan who was the Chairman.
Barr Dennis applauded Kenneth Okon for always facilitating for Iman people. He said “Isantim Kenneth Okon has done very well, he has been doing well and we appreciate you for that”
