Not less than forty people have once again benefited from the strategic training and empowerment programme of Hon. Dr. Henry Archibong, member representing Itu/Ibiono Ibom federal constituency in the green chamber of the National Assembly. The programme, which took place yesterday Friday, March 16, 2018 at his federal constituency liaison office located at Mbak Obio Itam, Itu LGA drew men and women across the twenty one wards of the federal constituency.

Addressing the participants at the training programme, the lawmaker thanked them for their support so far since he assumed office. He told them that the little things he is doing is geared towards fulfilling his promise of always bringing to them what rightly belongs to them no matter the measure. He took time to explain to the people why he is always partnering federal government agencies in the execution of his empowerment packages. He noted that government at the federal level do not allow lawmakers to execute projects by themselves, therefore whatever a lawmaker factors into the budget for his people must always be domiciled in an agency of government, which according to him ” is the reason why you see me partner with the National Human Rights Commission, NAPTIP, and other agencies of government”.

Dr. Archibong also used the occasion to highlight some of the many people centered motions and bills he has been able to sponsor on the floor of the green chamber even as a first term member. The federal lawmaker charged the people to strongly support the second term ambition of His Excellency, Governor Udom Emmanuel, noting that “the second coming of the Governor will guarantee political freedom of our federal constituency. Gov. Udom Emmanuel is our father and I know he loves this federal constituency very much”.

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr. Emmanuel Tom thanked the National Assembly man for always making sure that he keeps making the people busy with his programmes. He maintained that in terms of constituency reach out Dr. Archibong has done very well to carry his people along because “he has always remembered that he is holding our mandate in trust for us. I commend his humble disposition and I know that this attribute of his will see him through to many places”.

The event also saw the presentation of an Award of Excellence on the lawmaker by the Forum of PDP Ward Ex-Officio members in Itu LGA. The Ex-Officio forum also presented branded exercise books to the lawmaker. The Leader of Itu Legislative Council, Hon. Barr. Bassey Bassey presented the award on behalf of the Ex- Officio forum.

Present at the training and empowerment programme were recognized youth leaders of Itu LGA including Chairmen of ITU Chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria and the Akwa Ibom State Youth Caucus, Youth Leader of the PDP in Itu, Dakkada Coordinator, and Village Youth President. Others are the state officers of both Youth Council and Caucus.
