
Arrangements are in top gear for the public presentation and official launch of the biography of the second indigenous Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, and first Civilian Governor of the old Cross River state, the Late Chief Dr. Clement Isong. The biography is titled: Clement Nyong Isong: A Life of Integrity, Discipline and Public Service.

The event which is jointly hosted by the Akwa Ibom state Government and The Clement Isong Foundation is billed to hold on Friday, 16th of August 2019 at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre, Abuja. According to the Co-ordinator of the book launch, Dr. Udeme Nana, the biography is written by Prof. Olutayo Adesina of the Department of History and International Relations, University of Ibadan, while the foreword is written by Nigeria’s former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon who will also serve as the Chairman at the event.
Dr. Nana stated that prominent Nigerians across all sectors of the society including the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Deacon Udom Emmanuel and Governor Ben Ayade of Cross Rivers State are billed to host the event. President Muhammadu Buhari, General Olusegun Obasanjo, Secretary to the Government of the Federation- Mr. Boss Mustapha, The Head of Service of the Federation ,The Governor of The Central Bank, Mr.Godwin Emefiele ,Chairman of Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, Senator Olabiyi Durojaiyi, Prof. Pat Utomi and a host of other dignitaries across the country are also expected to grace the event.
Renowned scholar, Prof. Effiong Johnson of the Department of Theatre Arts, University of Uyo has been tapped to review the book. The late Chief Dr. Clement Isong who hailed from Ikot Udo Essang ,Onna Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State remains one of the most decorated Nigerians with numerous posthumous honors and is highly esteemed as one of the best CBN Governors Nigeria ever had. He is reputed to have managed the economy of Nigeria excellently well during the Nigerian Civil War among other sterling milestones.
