A superintendent of police, Mr Idorenyin Akpabio, the OC in charge of Anti Robbery, some police officers and hoodlums believed to be in fake army uniforms have allegedly invaded polling units, shooting and carting away elections materials from unit to unit in Essien Udim. At least seven agents of the PDP who attempted to resist the team were said to have been abducted and detained at Essien Udim Divisional Police Headquarters.
The DPO said he was unable to release the arrested ones since Supol Akpabio is a superior officer.
An eye witness said having chased away all PDP supporters and agents, some massive rigging commenced in several units in Essien Udim, especially unit 17 and 18 of Ukana Iba Ward.
At the Independent High School, journalists were refused access into the polling unit, while an eyewitness also reported that there had been forceful collection of PVCs from voters
A resident said that earlier this morning, Supol Akpabio who is in charge of Anti Robbery in the state police headquarters, allegedly approached the gate of the house of a PDP chieftain in Emem Akpabio and fired some shots apparently to force the elder statesman to remain indoors.
