Technology, as we all know, has it’s the good and bad side, it is up to us to decide how we use it, whether for good or for bad and to influence people positively. Desmond Tutu once said that “Forgiveness says you are given another chance to make a new beginning.” In the past, I have offended so many people consciously and unconsciously without having to think twice about how they felt or how much damage I have cost them.

I have taken time to reflect on my mistakes and it has made me realize a lot. As a practicing journalist, it is important to maintain a certain standard and good ethics in writing while remaining neutral and truthful to your readers.
Three weeks ago, I made several defaming posts on a platform called Deaf Pen which did not only cause damage to the people involved but also impacted negatively on the Akwa Ibom people as a whole.

The attempt to defame Hon. Akan Okon, Hon Nana Udom and Edidiong Akpan was not a vengeful act, i allowed the worst part of me to cloud my conscience and in the process caused myself, my family, even my friend and the whole state a lot of pain.

Honorable Akan Okon, Hon. Nana Udom and Edidiong Akpan are all good people, I was used by the devil as an instrument to try to hurt these good souls who never for once wrong me. I also want to state that my ill act wasn’t politically influenced in any way. It is sad that i cannot turn back the hands of time, but can only hope to be a better person to the society and impact positively on everyone around me anytime I have the opportunity to.
I tender my profound apology to my Amicable Governor His Excellency, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, The State Government, Hon. Akan Okon, Hon. Nana Udom, Edidiong Akpan, The Good Citizens of Akwa Ibom State and My family for all the stress i have caused. To my friend Moses Ukpong, Emmanuela Udoette , this chaos and have learned that it is not always about someone but doing the right thing always.

A preacher T.D. Jakes once said “I think the first step is to understand that forgiveness does not exonerate the perpetrator. Forgiveness liberates the victim. It’s a gift you give yourself.”

I can only pray that i am given another chance to make it right to the victims, the government, the people of Akwa-abasi Ibom State, the people i have offended before and my family. I am deeply sorry and can only ask everyone to help me be a new person.
