
The Honourable Commissioner for Education, Prof Nse Essien yesterday appreciated the teaching crew that handled school on Radio Classes powered by Akwa Ibom State Government.
In his speech, the Honourable Commissioner commended all the teachers that taught on school on Radio Programme for their excellent performance which he said had proven that the State’s Public school teachers are seasoned and committed.
He made it known that a website has been created for the School on Radio Classes to make revision easier for the students. The Education Boss afterwards gave a token of appreciation and a letter of recommendation to all the teachers involved in the programme and enjoined them to remain good ambassadors of the Akwa Ibom State School system.
Speaking earlier, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Mrs Helen Ante acknowledged the contribution of the teachers towards the success of the School on Radio programme. She emphasised the sacrifice they made during the lock down in jeopardizing their lives by making themselves available to impart knowledge inspite of the pandemic.
In the remark made by Dr Enobong Joshua, the coordinator of the programme, he thanked His Excellency, the Executive Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel for his forsightedness in putting together the School on Radio programme which he said has been an immense help in preparing our student for their respective examinations.
The co-ordinator thanked the Honourable Commissioner for Education, the Permanent Secretary, Directors and staff of the Ministry for providing the platform needed to get the best out of the teachers. He further appreciated the entire teaching team for their cooperation, passion and dedication throughout each phase of the programme.
In their goodwill messages, both the Government and Basic Science Teachers lauded his Excellency for giving them the opportunity to serve describing it as amazing as it had added to their wealth of experience.
In her vote of thanks, Dr Ayanime Akpan, the supervisor of Basic Science and Technology/Biology subject area, thanked the state government for birthing such a lofty vision in times like this and for also giving them the opportunity to contribute to the fulfilment of the vision.
The event had in attendance, the Commissioner for Education, Heads of Education Boards, Permanent Secretaries of the Boards, the coordinator of the Programme, Directors of the Ministry and Teachers on School on Radio programme.
